Did you know that the ear is a battery for the brain? (Alfred Tomatis)
And that training your ear through voice exercises can do many things including:
- Energize and stimulate your brain and body.
- Increases neuroplasticity (what!).
- Improves balance and posture of the overall body.
- Increases (and this is a good one) the muscle tone in the body.
- Increases well-being.
Singing is energizing and does all that good stuff if it promotes enough high frequencies inside of the tone of the voice, if it doesn’t then singing and listening to music doesn’t feed us it starves us.
The voice exercises that I do in my classes do exactly this – increase the higher frequencies in your tone and literally lift you up.
It is the same with listening to music. If there are not enough high frequencies in the music then even the muscle tonus of the body will not have a sense of lifting up, but slackening and loosening.
Building muscle tone or tonus through singing and the conscious use of singing is something I have been studying for many years.
It really is quite miraculous to sing!

Mind your tone! Watch your tone with me! You may or may not remember these words from your younger days? We can’t help the tone of our voice telling on us! The truth is inside the tone and not the actual words we are saying. It is our Living Word. Let’s see what’s...

Those statements that locked time into a small room along with their voice and carefulness crept up around them to replace freedom.
The singing voice gets a bad rap. It’s criticized and judged from a very early age. I don’t know what compels grade school music teachers to shame innocent children into ‘standing at the back‘, or to ‘mouth the words,‘ but it happens all the time. There are so many...
Once every 4 years we all sit down and watch these super athletes do feats that are incredible and unimaginable. But for the rest of the time we don’t watch them, we don’t see them train and work hard and push past their own inner voices that are begging them to stop.
‘At first we must distinguish and then we unite’ - Goethe Singing requires us to separate the body parts to identify what the role is for each part. For example the throat, solar plexus, the rib cage and belly. What does each part do? How does it assist the voice to...

Facing the world and stating who you are is the act of singing.

Can you exercise your will and state your side in an argument? Do you even know what your side is? I like to look at situations, and especially heated discussions, from ‘above the battlefield’ in order to try to understand both sides of the equation. This can...
