‘At first we must distinguish and then we unite’ – Goethe

Singing requires us to separate the body parts to identify what the role is for each part. For example the throat, solar plexus, the rib cage and belly.  What does each part do? How does it assist the voice to be free and unencumbered.

‘At first we must distinguish…’

The light of the voice activates the energetic nature of each part so it can come back online in its original state.  The diaphragm can be the power centre instead of being trapped in the position of anger or weakness.

What has been held out of our reach, our availability, authenticity and aliveness can come back into awareness and be integrated back into the whole system.

The voice teaches us to wake up our bodies one part at a time in order to bring a unification and wholeness to the body and voice that can then align us back to the moment and not the past.

So often a singers body has been penetrated with the wrong energy – trauma, abuse, careless behaviour and shaming.

Singing helps us to reclaim our natural states of power, clarity, expansion and wellbeing etc. versus the states of trauma and dis-regulation.

The nature of singing is to penetrate in an outward way into space through what we know is the term projection, however it also penetrates (projects) downwards into the body disturbing and pressing into whatever is being held inside.

Emotions, tensions, guarding, defences and protections are impacted from the voice and therein lies an ensuing battle of wills.

The will of the defences to hold on and keep the person safe and protected from the actual sound of the voice (abuser), or, the will to allow the necessary shedding of whatever is in the way of the voice bringing the space that the voice requires to sing naturally and powerfully.

Singing transforms each body centre one at a time and then we can place it back into the whole like a lego piece.  ‘…and then we unite.’

As the knots of the energetic chakras begin to unravel the traumas, abuses and disconnections of the past these powerful centres can align back to their natural flowing, relational state of energy, vibration and love.
