My Writings

Welcome to My Writings!

Inside are stories of people who want to sing and grow beyond their edges. There are stories of the magic and wonder of singing and expression, and, what gets in the way of it.

Make a cup of coffee, take your time and have a peek into my world.

Freedom vs Perfection

Freedom vs Perfection

Freedom can be found but not through the lens of perfection, it’s the other way around.

Perfection and precision can be found through the doorway of freedom.

After the talent show…

Being seen and heard can be wonderful if when the talent show ends the child’s talents don’t get taken up as a ‘cause or a mission‘ by the parents to get them out there to be seen by others through competitions etc. Respecting the child’s wishes, not talents, first and foremost.

The Voice is a Vessel

The Voice is a Vessel

This new vessel is exactly what we ‘who are in enough pain’ are doing to birth a new way of being that is inclusive in nature and not the exclusivity of the Patriarchal consciousness but a marriage between the two worlds.

The Voice is a Reflection

This development of awareness and presence will be reflected in the singing voice.  The more she is able to be in harmony with a larger field of awareness the more beautiful and full her voice will sound.  It will reflect the connection.

A Battle of Wills

The musical 8-note scale is a reflection of the 8 levels of the human development of consciousness starting in utero.

If this is hard to grasp then you might think of it like the rings inside of a tree.  Each ring is a level of development and has a certain frequency and corresponding note associated with it.

It’s about the singing, and, it’s not about the singing

It’s about the singing, and, it’s not about the singing

Singing brings a whole new paradigm of what is possible not only with the sound of your voice and its potential but your own capacity to grow and let go of what you have come to believe about yourself, which is false. So false.

We are terrified of the sound of our own voice for reasons that don’t make sense anymore and cannot hold up to the light of our awareness anymore. It’s not our voices we are really afraid of, it’s who we are and what we are capable of.

Harmony - Two or more notes coming together

Just like everything else developing a skill for singing harmony takes time for the harmony to begin to be instinctual and natural.  Most people are drawn to the melody and not the harmony part.

Over many years of working with singers I became very curious as to how to really help people to change this habit of being pulled to singing only in  unison.

The Climb

The Climb

As much as the work is the connecting to the body, at the same time there is a letting go of each part that is woken up and turned over to the silvery light of the voice. This wind then blows through the body without the body hindering the flowing power in any way.

Finding the support to sing

The singing voice teaches the body a new way to contain and express energy, power, authenticity and aliveness. Experiencing these vital ways of being through singing can imprint a knowing in our body that is supportive not only for our voice but for our lives.

The Castle of Time

The Castle of Time

We are only capable of accessing a tiny bit of the incident, accident, shock or trauma at a time. A tiny bit at a time because of how big it was in young nervous systems and if it were to come out as big as it went in it could re-traumatize the person.

The Early Impressions

Uncovering and healing this first impression by joining a choir, taking singing lessons again is a big step towards healing the separation from creativity and the play of singing.

Underneath this first impression is a profound beauty, freedom and joy that, yes, is still there, waiting for you to turn towards it to pronounce an affirmative YES, that is for me!

Healing Trauma through Singing

Being touched and moved by the sound of someones voice opens the heart and this is beautiful, yes, however, there is a great deal of the population who cannot receive, feel or even recognize this beauty anymore due to overload in the nervous system and old reptilian reactions to danger of varying degrees.

Be Still & Know

Clear and intentional singing has the potential to bring stillness into our awareness.  Like the threading of a needle we are asked to be extremely precise about where we are headed and where to place our attention.

The ripple affects of singing

Singing for the purpose of healing and connection is more concerned with the inner world versus the outer world. The cause and effect of singing for the self versus the benefit of the audience.

Going with the Flow

Going with the Flow

To be a singer is a full meal deal, body, mind and spirit.

We have to become blank slates for our voice to be able to move around inside of us like we are the building and our voice is the elevator.

Authenticity

Authenticity

There is something unshakable about being in the presence of someone in their authenticity. The difference between being with someone who is being in their ‘power’ and being with someone who is in their ‘authenticity’ is the ‘authentic’ person brushes off on you and you want to be around them, the ‘powerful’ person makes you feel less than they are.

I sing you to me…

We recognize the magic in nature because it’s inside of us and we are in touch with it. As within as without; a beautiful reflection of our inner subtle awareness.
