Living a Creative Life

I’m always having these conversations but it seems like there are more of them happening these days.

The conversations are about how to live a life that is more in alignment with creativity and flow instead of the status quo of pushing and working hard all the time. To succeed and to prove our worth.

Ah yes…I know it well and a very human experience I must say.

There is such a huge momentum inside of us all that says, ‘I don’t have enough, I’m not enough…’

So to actually stop and allow this creative energy to begin to rise and paint our lives instead of controlling and pushing can be difficult and disorienting for so many.

The sound of our voice reflects this habit in every single way.

This is why voice lessons and group classes are so helpful in finding ways for us to slow down and let go. The voice work slowly and gently begins to open you to this creative energy and then it kind of sneaks up on you and begins to paint your life with more vibrant colours in the most surprising ways.

The Unbearable Weight of Creativity (excerpt)

“Unsupported creative genius can make a mess inside of a persons body as the powerful repressed energy of life gets caught and trapped inside. Aches and pains move around like phantom limbs and illness and disease grow up into adulthood, instead of the beautiful works of art that are waiting for them at chairs and tables.”
